Monday, 30 October 2023 10:35:41 (GMT+3)   |   Kolkata

India’s ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Limited (AMNS) is planning to construct a greenfield jetty with capacity to handle 65 million mt per year of freight at Suvali, in Hazira, close to its existing steel mill, company sources said on Monday, October 30.

The sources said that the jetty at Suvali has been conceived to meet the company’s growing demand for raw material such as iron ore, limestone and coal, following the expansion of AMNS’ Hazira steel mill.

The company is implementing expansion of the Hazira steel mill to 15.6 million mt per year to be completed by 2026 and further to 21 million mt per year by 2030, from 9.6 million mt per year at present.

A few months ago, AMNS completed the acquisition of a 25 million mt per year capacity captive jetty for its Hazira steel mill from the Essar Group.
