Hyundai Steel reports lower steel prices in Q4

South Korean steelmaker Hyundai Steel has announced that it experienced a significant drop in plate prices in the fourth quarter of last year.

In the given period, Hyundai Steel's domestic prices of hot rolled coil and plate were KRW 864,000/mt ($770/mt) and KRW 1.017 million/mt ($906.821/mt) respectively, down KRW 16,300/mt ($15/mt) and KRW 61,000/mt ($54/mt) on quarter-on-quarter basis. Meanwhile, export prices of the above products in the fourth quarter were KRW 809,000/mt ($721/mt) FOB and KRW 1.003 million/mt ($894/mt) FOB respectively, down KRW 23,000/mt ($21/mt) KRW 40,000/mt ($36/mt) quarter on quarter.

In addition, Hyundai Steel's domestic prices of rebar and H-beam in the fourth quarter were KRW 798,000/mt ($712/mt) and KRW 989,000/mt ($882/mt) respectively, down KRW 52,000/mt ($46/mt) and up KRW 41,000/mt ($37/mt) quarter on quarter, with the export prices of these products at KRW 791,000/mt ($705/mt) FOB and KRW 930,000/mt ($829/mt) FOB respectively, up KRW 11,000/mt ($9.8/mt) and KRW 12,000/mt ($10.7/mt) quarter on quarter.
