EU new passenger car registrations down 3.2 percent in Jan-Aug

In August this year, new car registrations totaled 1.04 million units in the European Union (EU), decreasing by 8.4 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

The EU’s five largest markets all posted decreases in August, with Spain (-30.8%) and France (-14.1%) posting the strongest drops.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months, new passenger car registrations in the EU decreased to 10.52 million units, down 3.2 percent year on year. Germany posted an increase of 0.9 percent in the same period, while the other major EU car markets saw declines.
