Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), has stated that China’s sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the January-June period this year accounted for 60 percent of passenger NEVs sold globally during the period.
In the first six months this year, the sales of passenger NEVs worldwide amounted to 6.05 million units, up 45 percent year on year. In June alone, the sales of passenger NEVs in the global market reached 1.28 million units, up 43 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Cui stated that the penetration of NEVs in the global market reached 14 percent in the January-June period, while in China, Germany, Norway, the US and Japan the penetration of NEVs reached 27 percent, 19 percent, 71 percent, 8.6 percent and 3.0 percent, respectively, signaling the imbalance of NEV shares in the global market.
As China continues to strengthen the development of NEVs and the United States also increases NEV stimulus policies, NEVs will enter a new phase of strong development in the global market.
Market experts have commented that China’s NEV industry chain already leads the world in terms of technology, scale and production cost, which will exert a positive impact on China’s vehicle industry in the future.
