As announced on January 10 by the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), in late December (Dec. 21-31) 2010 China produced 19.06 million mt of crude steel, with an average daily crude steel output of 1.733 million mt. Meanwhile, China's average daily crude steel output in the whole of December was 1.699 million mt, up 3.3 percent on the average figure of 1.617 million mt for November.
Luo Bingsheng, vice chairman of the CISA, commented that China will further implement structural adjustment of the domestic steel industry in the12th five-year plan period (2011-15).
In the 11th five-year plan period (2006-10), China eliminated backward production capacities including 116.96 million mt of pig iron and 69.14 million mt of crude steel.
