According to the latest figures issued by China's National Bureau of Statistics, in December 2010 China produced 51.52 million mt of crude steel, rising by 6.3 percent compared to the same period of 2009. During the month in question, the average daily output of crude steel in China was 1,661,900 mt, decreasing by 10,000 mt month on month. For the whole of 2010, Chinese crude steel production totaled 626.65 million mt, an increase of 9.3 percent year on year.
In the last month of 2010, Chinese steelmakers produced 46.65 million mt and 67.84 million mt of pig iron and finished steel respectively, rising by 2.3 percent and 3.5 percent year on year. In 2010, China's total production of pig iron and finished steel reached 590.22 million mt and 79.627 million mt respectively, 7.4 percent and 14.7 percent higher than the figures recorded in 2009.
