In March, Brazil exported 31,900 metric tons (mt) of rebars, while it imported 20,300 mt of the product, comparable respectively with 16,900 mt and 5,700 mt in February.
The increase in exports reflects the resumption of exports to the US.
The exports of March were destined to South American countries (21,700 mt at $648/mt), and to the US (10,200 mt at $ 548/mt), FOB conditions.
Imports were high mainly because Brazil received 16,400 mt from Egypt at $533/mt. Egypt had not supplied rebar to Brazil in the previous four months. Russia also shipped 3,900 mt at $482/mt, both on FOB terms.
