According to a report from Brazilian auto-dealer association Fenabrave on Tuesday, car sales in the country increased 19 percent year-on-year  to 340,706 units in June, a 24 percent jump over sales in May. However, truck sales declined 28 percent following stricter emission standards enacted in Brazil.

Despite the increase in June, Fenabrave predicts that sales of light and commercial vehicles will actually decline in 2012 versus 2011. Sales will likely amount to 3.41 million vehicles--0.4 percent lower than sales in 2011. Previously, Fenabrave anticipated that 2012 sales would actually increase 3.5 percent.
