Saudi Arabia-based steel producer BAZ Steel has signed a memorandum of understanding with local pipe manufacturer SAAL Industrial Technology Co., a subsidiary of China-based Baotou City Joyun Co., to support the localization of steel pipe production in Saudi Arabia.
Baz Steel stated that the agreement is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to strengthen international partnerships and develop the Kingdom’s industrial sector.
Roles and scope of the partnership
Under the agreement, BAZ Steel will act as the local industrial partner and operator, contributing its domestic market experience and production capabilities. SAAL Industrial Technology, as the technology provider, will bring expertise in steel pipe manufacturing technologies, particularly for seamless and spiral pipes. The partnership targets the localization of production for pipes used in critical sectors such as water and gas, which have previously been supplied through imports.
Integrated industrial ecosystem to be developed
According to BAZ Steel, the collaboration will establish an integrated industrial ecosystem within Saudi Arabia, combining global technological expertise with local industrial capabilities.
The company emphasized that this initiative is expected to:
- Increase domestic production efficiency
- Support local content development
- Reduce reliance on imported steel pipe products
