Atlas Tube, Nippon and Mitsui join to bring jumbo HSS to North America

Chicago, Illinois-based Atlas Tube--a division of JMC Steel Group--announced on Wednesday its plan to partner with Tokyo, Japan-based companies Nippon Steel & Sumikin Metal Products Co., Ltd. (NSMP) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. to supply hollow structural section (HSS) to North America. The "Jumbo" HSS sizes--which were not originally available in North America--range from 18" square to 22" square and up to .875" wall thickness.  Atlas Tube will market and distribute these Jumbo HSS products throughout North America and will be available from the Chicago facility starting in Q2 of fiscal 2012.
