Last week, SteelOrbis reported that demand and order activity for US HSS tubing was “not as robust as mills had been hoping for,” noting that spot market pricing had eroded from $48.50 cwt. ($1,069/mt or $970/nt) ex-mill, to an average of $47.50 cwt. ($1,047/mt or $950/nt), ex-mill, with the expectation that prices could continue to tick downward.
This week, sources have said that “delivered to customer” prices in the US Southeast are being heard at $47.50 cwt. ($1,047/mt or $950/nt), which includes freight costs.
“Ex-mill transaction pricing in the Southeast is down by about $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt) in the past week,” another source said. “The average price today is somewhere around $46.00 cwt. ($1,014/mt or $920/nt), ex-mill, give or take.”
