US HSS prices steady after last week’s shift

Last week, US domestic HSS prices adjusted downward from $108-$109 cwt. ($2,381-$2,403/mt or $2,160-$2,180/nt), FOB mill, to approximately $103-$104 cwt. ($2,271-$2,293/mt or $2,060-$2,080/nt), FOB mill.  And while sources note that prices have been stable since last week’s adjustment, it’s widely speculated that based on the significant spread between US HRC prices and structural tube prices, that additional downward adjustments are inevitable.  “It’s not a matter of if at this point,” a source said. “It’s just a matter of when.”
