US HSS prices steady after last week’s shift

Last week, SteelOrbis reported that US HSS had shifted up by approximately $0.50 cwt. ($11/mt or $10/nt), to $45.00-$46.00 cwt. ($992-$1,014/mt or $900-$920/nt), ex-works.

Yet while spot market prices have remained steady week-over-week, SteelOrbis sources have indicated that Atlas Tube is adding $1.50 cwt. ($33/mt or $30/nt) on their quotes for January shipments, “but they are currently the only one. With scrap [prices] being up this month, we expect to see a price increase of that same amount announced any day now.”
