SteelOrbis has learned that US domestic HSS mills are continuing to push for spot market transactions at $48.50 cwt. ($1,069/mt or $970/nt), ex-mill, which is consistent with levels heard one week ago.
In contrast, during the same reporting period in January 2019, spot market prices for US HSS tubing were trending in the range of $53-$55 cwt. ($1,168-$1,213/mt or $1,060-$1,100/nt), ex-mill. Looking back to 2018, the average mid-January HSS spot market price was recorded at approximately $49 cwt. ($1,080/mt or $980/nt), ex-mill.
