In a letter to customers late Tuesday, Atlas Tube announced that it will raise the price on all new orders of HSS by the following amounts, effective immediately:

• HSS shapes up through 12” (square and equivalent rectangles): $70/nt ($3.50 cwt. or $77/mt)
• HSS rounds up through 20” outer diameter: $70-$90/nt ($3.50-$4.50 cwt. or $77-$99/mt).

Atlas noted that “steel market conditions have changed significantly in the last several weeks. Hot rolled coil costs have increased multiple times to account for increases in raw materials and a surge in new orders.” The letter said new orders for HSS have also seen a significant increase.

Other US domestic HSS mills are expected to follow suit.
