On June 20, SteelOrbis reported domestic high carbon ferrochrome spot trading at $3,086-3,196/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. At the time, the slight slip in prices was attributed to the overall downtrend of the ferrochrome market in Europe and Asia despite temporary recoveries in China.
Imported and domestic ferrochrome prices continued trending up in China through the end of June and into early July, thereby, buoying the US domestic market. In the US domestic market, limited spot trading has pricing for ferrochrome at $3,064-3,196/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. While the top end of the range remained stable, the lower end of the range decreased by $22/mt.
According to a source, the US market is presently expected to trend stable. Prices have the possibility of moving slightly down in the next month on seasonal conditions, but the supply is being managed tightly to limit deep movements.
