Izmir-based Turkish steel producers have continued to cut their ship scrap procurement prices, by $5-9/mt, with one local producer keeping its prices stable after announcing a price decline earlier this week. Also, Özkan Demir Çelik is now back in the market with its price standing at $350/mt, representing the bottom end of the range. The general range is now at $350-367/mt for delivery to mill by truck, down from $365-376/mt. The silence observed in the steel and scrap segments is also having an impact on ship scrap quotations, making it easy for steel producers to exert pressure on ship scrap generated in Aliaga.
