August crude steel production up in Germany

Based on the provisional data released by the Federal Statistics Office, crude steel production in Germany amounted to 3.86 million tons in August with an increase of 15.1% compared to the same period of last year. In the same period, pig iron production rose by 13.1% from a year earlier to 2.54 million net tons. On a month-on-month basis, both crude steel output and pig iron output decreased by 0.8%. In the first eight months of the year, crude steel production reached 31.05 million tons, indicating a rise of 3.9% compared to the same period of last year while pig iron production was recorded as 20.07 million net tons with an increase of 1.9%.
