German crude steel production in August rose by 2.4 percent year on year to 3.97 million metric tons, according to the provisional data issued by the Federal Statistics Office of Germany. Meanwhile, national pig iron production for the same month increased by four percent year on year to reach 2.65 million metric tons.
Compared to the previous month, Germany's crude steel production figure registered a 0.6 percent decrease in August, while pig iron production edged up by 0.5 percent.
German crude steel output totaled 32.51 million metric tons through the first eight months of the year, up 4.2 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 20.76 million metric tons, up 2.9 percent on the same period last year.
