German crude steel output beats record in 2007

Germany's Federal Statistics Office has reported that crude steel production in Germany increased 2.8 percent in 2007 to 48.55 million metric tons, while pig iron output increased 2.3 percent to 31.07 million metric tons, as compared to 2006.

The crude steel figure represents the highest production level since the unification of Germany.

On the other hand, on a month-on-month basis, Germany's crude steel production declined to 3.75 million metric tons in December from 4.03 million metric tons in November.
