German crude steel output down in July
German crude steel production in July decreased by 0.1 percent year on year to four million metric tons, according to the provisional data issued by the Federal Statistics Office of Germany. Meanwhile, national pig iron production for the same month fell by 1.4 percent year on year to reach 2.63 million metric tons. Compared to the previous month, Germany's crude steel production figure registered a 2.5 percent decrease in July, while pig iron production edged up by two percent. German crude steel output totaled 28.54 million metric tons through the first seven months of the year, up 4.5 percent year on year. In addition, pig iron output amounted to 18.10 million metric tons, up 2.7 percent on the same period last year.
