According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 56,313 mt in August 2023, down 2.4 percent from July and down 37.2 percent from August 2022 levels. By value, tin plate imports totaled $103.7 million in August 2023, compared to $105.1 million in July and $178.8 million in August 2022.
The US imported the most tin plate from Netherlands in August, with 16,866 mt, compared to 22,440 mt in July and 23,162 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported tin plate in August include Germany, with 15,976 mt; Canada, with 11,709 mt; South Korea, with 9,667 mt; and Spain, with 1,991 mt.
