US steel imports down 5.3 percent in November 2025

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US monthly steel imports in November this year down 5.3 percent from October and down 20.7 percent year on year to total 1,489,022 mt. In terms of value, US steel imports in November totaled $1.56 billion, compared to $1.66 billion in October and $2.28 billion in November last year.

Top sources for US steel imports in November include: Canada with 233,266 mt, Brazil with 224,324 mt, Mexico with 150,144 mt, and South Korea with 149,299 mt.

By product group, semi-finished imports totaled 490,096 mt in November, up from 345,630 mt in October and 417,239 mt in November last year. Flat product imports totaled 408,792 mt in November, down from 546,684 mt in October and down from 742,661 mt in November 2024. Long product imports totaled 224,512 mt in November, down from 295,463 mt in October and down from 302,348 mt in November last year. Pipe and tube imports amounted to 298,614 mt in November, down from 313,014 mt in October and down from 328,249 mt in November 2024.
