US standard pipe imports down 24.9 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 51,006 mt in August 2018, down 24.9 percent from July and down 42.3 percent from August 2017 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $54.3 million in August 2018, compared to $65.6 million in the previous month and $83.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in August, with 11,985 mt, compared to 12,383 mt in July and 14,646 mt in August 2017. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in August include UAE, with 8,332 mt; Oman, with 6,082 mt; China, with 2,814 mt; and Vietnam, with 2,592 mt.
