Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 8 the US rotary rig count increased by two to 931 rigs following a six-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas remained stable at 180 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 751. The overall rig count is now up by 307 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by three to 219 rigs in the week ending December 8 following a seven-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 11 rigs from the same week a year ago.
