US rebar exports up 21.1 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 15,125 mt in August 2019, down 3.8 percent from July but up 17.8 percent from August 2018 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $10.9 million in August, compared to $11.6 million in the previous month and $10.7 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in August with 10,612 mt, compared to 11,682 mt in July and 8,990 mt in August 2018. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 2,761 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in August.
