US rebar exports down 36.3 percent in August

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 12,836 mt in August 2018, down 36.3 percent from July and down 68.7 percent from August 2017 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $10.7 million in August, compared to $13.3 million in the previous month and $27.1 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada in August with 8,990 mt, compared to 16,763 mt in July and 39,039 mt in August 2017. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 2,042 mt. There were no other major destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US rebar exports in August.
