US rebar exports down 1.5 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of rebar totaled 10,630 mt in January 2019, down 1.5 percent from December and down 71.9 percent from January 2018 levels. By value, rebar exports totaled $7.9 million in January, compared to $7.6 million in the previous month and $24.4 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most rebar to Canada January with 8,075 mt, compared to 7,335 mt in December and 27,017 mt in January 2018. Other top destinations included Dominican Republic, with 1,147 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export rebar in January.
