US OCTG imports rise 6.1 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 178,396 mt in February 2017, up 6.1 percent from January and up 86.6 percent from February 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $149.4 million in February 2017, compared to $149.7 million in the previous month and $101.5 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in February, with 83,462 mt, compared to 79,178 mt in January and 22,522 mt in February 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in February include Mexico, with 33,492 mt; Canada, with 9,908 mt; Turkey, with 8,570 mt; Saudi Arabia, with 7,144 mt; and Japan, with 6,679 mt.
