According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 150,336 mt in December, up 55.2 percent from November and up 257.7 percent from December 2015 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $136.4 million in December 2016, compared to $87.1 million in the previous month and $65.9 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in December, with 46,588 mt, compared to 46,548 mt in November and 1,291 mt in December 2015. Other top sources of imported OCTG in December include Mexico, with 34,383 mt; Argentina, with 18,806 mt; Russia, with 17,865 mt; Austria, with 10,112 mt; and Canada, with 7,725 mt.
