US mechanical tubing imports down 3.5 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 40,284 mt in September 2019, down 3.5 percent from August but up 12.6 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $56.3 million in September 2019, compared to $57.9 million in the previous month and $57.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in September, with 15,538 mt, compared to 14,113 mt in August and 10,398 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in September include Canada, with 8,285 mt; Germany, with 3,180 mt; Vietnam, with 1,476 mt; and China, with 1,383 mt.
