US mechanical tubing imports down 34.7 percent in April

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 32,484 mt in April 2020, down 34.7 percent from March and down 20.8 percent from April 2019 levels. By value mechanical tubing imports totaled $42.6 million in April 2020, compared to $66.5 million in the previous month and $63.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in April, with 10,774 mt, compared to 24,466 mt in March and 12,762 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in April include Canada, with 6,788 mt; Germany, with 4,570 mt; China, with 1,375 mt; and Japan, with 1,364 mt.
