US mechanical tubing imports down 24.1 percent in September

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of mechanical tubing totaled 35,761 mt in September 2018, down 24.1 percent from August and down 33.6 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, mechanical tubing imports totaled $57.1 million in September 2018, compared to $73.9 million in the previous month and $74.4 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most mechanical tubing from Mexico in September, with 10,398 mt, compared to 11,975 mt in August and 11,129 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported mechanical tubing in September include Canada, with 6,461 mt; Germany, with 3,493 mt; China, with 2,530 mt; Vietnam, with 2,139 mt; and India, with 1,812 mt.
