US iron and steel scrap exports up 8.5 percent in November from October

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,302,836 mt in November last year, up by 8.5 percent month on month and up 6.5 percent year on year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in November with 366,596 mt, down 4.3 percent month to month and up by 24.9 percent year on year. Other notable destinations in November included India with 199,454 mt, Mexico with 150,113 mt, and Bangladesh with 150,003 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $552.3 million in November 2024, compared to $502.9 million in October and $508.4 million in November 2023.
