US hot rolled bar imports up 6.4 percent in June

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled bar totaled 76,635 mt in June 2023, up 6.4 percent from May but down 3.5 percent from June 2022 levels. By value, hot rolled bar imports totaled $99.3 million in June 2023, compared to $99.7 million in May and $112.3 million in June 2022.

The US imported the most hot rolled bar from Canada in June, with 30,431 mt, compared to 28,636 mt in May and 35,667 mt in June 2022. Other top sources of imported hot rolled bar in June include Japan, with 12,912 mt; Mexico, with 9,892 mt; Brazil, with 5,263 mt; and France, with 4,399 mt.
