US hot rolled bar exports rise 22.5 percent in January

US exports of hot rolled bars totaled 35,733 mt in January, up 22.5 percent from December and up 7.6 percent from January 2016 levels. By value, hot rolled bar exports totaled $35.8 million in January, compared to $29.7 million in the previous month and $38.3 million the same month last year.
 
The US shipped the most hot rolled bar to Canada in January, with 18,552 mt, compared to 11,954 mt in December and 15,421 mt in January 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 16,008 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US hot rolled bar exports in January.
