According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip totaled 139,300 mt in August 2023, up 16.1 percent from July and up 28.6 percent from August 2022. By value, HDG exports totaled $192.0 million in August, compared to $165.2 million in the previous month and $156.6 million the same month last year.
The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in August with 72,625 mt, compared to 61,467 mt in July and 53,389 mt in August 2022. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 57,516 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in August.
