US HDG exports drop 8.5 percent in October

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheets and strips totaled 102,415 mt in October, down 8.5 percent from September but up 1.4 percent from October 2016 levels. By value, HDG exports totaled $104.3 million in October, compared to $115.1 million in the previous month and $100.2 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in October with 55,789 mt, compared to 59,597 mt in September and 55,446 mt in October 2016. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 43,710 mt; and Japan, with 1,005 mt. There were no other notable (over 1,000 mt) destinations for US HDG exports in October.
