US drawn wire imports up 5.9 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 48,820 mt in July 2023, up 5.9 percent from June but down 10.8 percent from July 2022 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $72.5 million in July 2023, compared to $67.2 million in June and $96.8 million in July 2022.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in July, with 16,643 mt, compared to 17,149 mt in June and 20,103 in July 2022. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in July include China, with 8,339 mt; Canada, with 8,012 mt; Vietnam, with 3,314 mt; and South Korea, with 2,832 mt.
