According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 53,626 mt in May 2023, up 5.6 percent from April but down 8.3 percent from May 2022 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $80.1 million in May 2023, compared to $80.0 million in April and $103.1 million in May 2022.
The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in May, with 19,363 mt, compared to 17,819 mt in April and 18,687 mt in May 2022. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in May include Canada, with 10,334 mt; China, with 8,229 mt; Vietnam, with 3,911 mt; and South Korea, with 3,331 mt.
