US drawn wire imports up 4.5 percent in July

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 53,093 mt in July 2019, up 4.5 percent from June and up 6.7 percent from July 2018 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $62.1 million in July 2019, compared to $56.9 million in the previous month and $62.1 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in July, with 13,725 mt, compared to 13,865 mt in June and 10,290 mt in July 2018. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in July include China, with 12,967 mt; Canada, with 10,502 mt; Korea, with 3,475 mt; and Japan, with 3,034 mt.
