US drawn wire imports up 4.0 percent in January

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 46,826 mt in January 2023, up 4.0 percent from December but down 16.6 percent from January 2022 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $77.9 million in January 2023, compared to $72.6 million in December and $91.3 million in January 2022.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in January, with 17,555 mt, compared to 16,857 mt in December and 17,358 in January 2022. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in January include Canada, with 9,476 mt; China, with 7,967 mt; South Korea, with 2,040 mt; and Germany, with 1,948 mt.
