US drawn wire imports up 1.2 percent in August

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 49,387 mt in August 2023, up 1.2 percent from July but down 12.2 percent from August 2022 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $72.7 million in August 2023, compared to $72.5 million in July and $97.5 million in August 2022.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in August, with 18,322 mt, compared to 16,643 mt in July and 20,989 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in August include Canada, with 10,707 mt; China, with 7,385 mt; South Korea, with 3,151 mt; and Vietnam, with 2,729 mt.
