US drawn wire imports up 11.3 percent in April

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 50,776 mt in April 2023, up 11.3 percent from March and down 13.4 percent from April 2022 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $80.1 million in April 2023, compared to $71.8 million in March and $96.7 million in April 2022.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Mexico in April, with 17,819 mt, compared to 18,649 mt in March and 20,701 mt in April 2022. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in April include Canada, with 9,923 mt; China, with 8,038 mt; South Korea, with 2,684 mt; and Italy, with 2,467 mt.
