US drawn wire imports up 0.6 percent in October

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 42,716 mt in October 2019, up 0.6 percent from September but down 18.9 percent from October 2018 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $52.3 million in October 2019, compared to $50.1 million in the previous month and $64.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Canada in October, with 12,877 mt, compared to 11,023 mt in September and 11,629 mt in October 2018. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in October include Mexico, with 9,608 mt; China, with 6,738 mt; Korea, with 3,059 mt; and Japan, with 2,916 mt.
