According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 49,756 mt in July 2018, down 1.4 percent from June and down 20.8 percent from July 2017 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $62.1 million in July 2018, compared to $59.7 million in the previous month and $65.3 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most drawn wire from the China in July, with 11,166 mt, compared to 11,986 mt in June and 14,735 mt in July 2017. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in July include Mexico, with 10,290 mt; Canada, with 10,178 mt; Japan, with 4,262 mt; and Korea, with 2,740 mt.
