US drawn wire imports down 12.2 percent in September

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 42,450 mt in September 2019, down 12.2 percent from August and down 9.2 percent from September 2018 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $50.1 million in September 2019, compared to $57.3 million in the previous month and $57.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most drawn wire from Canada in September, with 11,023 mt, compared to 10,190 mt in August and 10,361 mt in September 2018. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in September include China, with 10,485 mt; Mexico, with 10,207 mt; Korea, with 2,697 mt; and Japan, with 2,144 mt.
