US drawn wire imports down 10.8 percent in September

According to census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of drawn wire totaled 46,768 mt in September 2018, down 10.8 percent from August and down 15.0 percent from September 2017 levels. By value, drawn wire imports totaled $57.5 million in September 2018, compared to $66.0 million in the previous month and $57.5 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most drawn wire from China in September, with 12,536 mt, compared to 14,030 mt in August and 11,581 mt in September 2017. Other top sources of imported drawn wire in September include Canada, with 10,361 mt; Mexico, with 8,457 mt; Japan, with 4,326 mt; Korea, with 3,386 mt; and Vietnam, with 1,701 mt.
