US CRC imports down 15.1 percent in August

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheet totaled 98,015 mt in August 2023, down 15.1 percent from July and down 30.9 percent from August 2022 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $114.2 million in August 2023, compared to $135.3 million in July and $177.8 million in August 2022.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in August, with 43,921 mt, compared to 39,083 mt in July and 41,071 mt in August 2022. Other top sources of imported CRC in August include Mexico, with 8,807 mt; Australia, with 8,605 mt; Sweden, with 8,010 mt; and South Korea, with 6,509 mt.
