US cold finished bar exports up 11.6 percent in January

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of cold finished bar totaled 8,252 mt in January 2019, up 11.6 percent from December but down 13.9 percent from January 2018 levels. By value, cold finished bar exports totaled $18.7 million in January, compared to $17.9 million in the previous month and $20.8 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most cold finished bar to Canada in January with 3,894 mt, compared to 2,935 mt in December and 6,065 mt in January 2018. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 3,576 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US export cold finished bar in January.
